One of France’s most visited cities, Carcassonne is famous for its walls, which take us back to the era of the Cathars, the Crusades and the castles.
You can get there from Toulouse by road or train in about an hour. I recommend buying your tickets in advance from SNCF or Trainline, as that’s where you’ll find the cheapest fares.
