Santine

A classic restaurant in the centre of Toulouse, situated next to the Place de la Daurade. Its traditional French cuisine stands out for its quality and for being a family-run business serving home-cooked food.
If I were only in Toulouse for a day, this is where I’d come to eat to enjoy some French food.

Victor Hugo Market

Toulouse’s most famous food market and one of the best places to discover the city’s cuisine.

You’ll find stalls selling cheese, cured meats, oysters, foie gras, wines and top-quality fresh produce, as well as small restaurants and bars that are very popular with locals.

It’s common to buy food inside and eat at the tables around the market. You may need to book in advance to secure a table.

Free entry. Meals and tastings cost approximately €10 to €35 per person.

Pastel et Sarrasin

-SUITABLE FOR COELIACS-

The best crêperie in Toulouse; it’s more expensive than others but still offers very good value for money compared to other types of restaurant.

The venue is fabulous, the service is 10/10, the Breton cider is amazing – it’s always served in a mug – and the galettes are brilliant, whether sweet or savoury.

Opening hours
Open every day from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 19:00 to 21:30/22:30 depending on the day.

Price range
Approximately €15 to €25 per person.

Les Fondues de la Daurade

A restaurant specialising in fondue. In my opinion, there aren’t any good fondue places in Toulouse, but if I had to pick one to try it at, it would be this one.

BEWARE: I only recommend this place for that specific reason; steer clear of the other dishes on the menu. If you’re looking for something other than fondue, there are better places in terms of quality and price. That said, this place does serve good fondue and good raclette.

Opening hours
Generally open every day for lunch and dinner, with opening times usually from 11:00 to 15:00 and from 18:30 to 23:30 approximately.

Price range
Fondue is usually expensive, at €24–27 per person.

LE BOUILLON CAPITOLE

A very popular restaurant right in the heart of Place du Capitole. Ideal if you’re looking to sample classic French cuisine at very affordable prices, in a spacious restaurant with an unbeatable location.
Its only drawback is the long queue caused by its popularity; it takes quite a while to get a table and they don’t take bookings.

Opening hours
Open every day with continuous service from approximately 11.30 am to 10.45 pm (until 11.15 pm on Saturdays).

Price range
Approximately €10 to €20 per person. A great option for an affordable meal right in the city centre.

Meet The Meat

It’s a great choice in Toulouse if you fancy meat and hearty dishes. A very popular restaurant amongst locals, known for its generous portions, grilled meats and pretty good value for money. It’s a less well-known version of the famous restaurant ‘L’Entrecôte’.

Opening hours
Open every day. Usually from 12:00 to 14:30 and from 19:00 to 23:30, closing slightly later on Fridays and Saturdays.

Price range
Approximately €20 to €30 per person.

Crêperie Le Menhir

A well-known Breton crêperie in Toulouse, with a warm and authentic atmosphere. Specialising in traditional galettes and crêpes, it is highly regarded for the quality of its food and its cosy ambience, complete with Celtic music. Ideal for enjoying Breton cuisine right in the heart of the city.

Opening hours

Le Sherpa

It’s one of the best crêperies in the city, at a very competitive price… But you need to go when you’ve got plenty of time, as they tend to take a long time to serve. And ‘a long time’ can mean anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Opening hours
Generally open from Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. Closed on some Sundays and Mondays.

Price range
Approximately €15 to €25 per person.
